San Tung – aka home of the best chicken wings in SF

If you don’t already know about San Tung, it is a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco and they are known for their Original Dry Fried Chicken. And it will be one of the best chicken wings you’ll have (in my opinion). It’s so good and I can’t get anything like it in SoCal (but if you do know a place with awesome chicken, let me know 🙂 ).  It’s crispy, sweet, and savory. It’s incredibly delicious.

Here are some info and tips if you’re planning on going soon:

Parking:

  • All the nearby parking spots are metered parking.
  • Parking can be a pain in the butt sometimes if it’s peak lunch or dinner time

Wait time:

  • San Tung is extremely popular so the wait can be 1-2 hours if it’s crowded.
    • However, I went on a Friday 30 minutes before they close at 3pm and was seated within minutes. I feel like if you go at odd hours that aren’t peak eating times then the wait shouldn’t be too bad.
  • *PRO TIP*: If you don’t want to wait in line and are okay with not eating in the restaurant, I HIGHLY recommend ordering your food for takeout or to-go.
    • I normally would order 20-30 minutes before I head out to San Tung’s and happily pick up my food.

Food:

  • Obviously, you HAVE to get the Original Dry Fried Chicken since that’s probably why you’re going.
  • I had the Black Bean Paste Noodle which I’m assuming is the Korean Chinese noodle dish, Jajangmyeon. I don’t get Jajangmyeon often and no expert of it, but I thought it was devent. I probably wouldn’t get it again.
  • I’ve also had the dumplings there and they were decent.
  • I only get their chicken so I can’t really recommend much.
